Will There Be Any Stars?

Words: Eliza E. Hewitt (c. 1897)
Music: John R. Sweney (c. 1897)
Lead: None

Lyrics:

I am thinking today of that beautiful land
I shall reach when the sun goeth down
When through wonderful grace by my Savior I stand
Will there be any stars in my crown?

Chorus:
Will there be any stars, any stars in my crown
When at evening the sun goeth down (goeth down)?
When I wake with the blest in the mansions of rest
Will there be any stars in my crown (any stars in my crown)?

O what joy it will be when His face I behold
Living gems at his feet to lay down!
It would sweeten my bliss in the city of gold
Should there be any stars in my crown

Repeat Chorus

"And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away."  1 Peter 5:4

I Know My Saviour is There

Words and music:
Lead: C.D. Davis

Lyrics:

When I'm heavy laden (laden), when my friends are gone (all gone)
When I'm all forsaken, when I'm left to walk alone (alone)
I'll just keep on smilin', (keep on) smilin' through my tears
(Because I) For I know my Saviour is there

Chorus:
I'll bear my burden (I will bear my burden), my load of care (and my load of care)
If He's before me (If He goes before me), I will go anywhere (I'll go anywhere)
Well many troubles all around me, I'll not despair (yet I'll not despair)
(Because I) For I know my Saviour is there

There's a rolling river (river), Jordan deep and wide (so wide)
But He will deliver safely to the other side (bright side)
But whate'er waits me, (I know) I'll be satisfied
(Because I) For I know my Saviour is there

Repeat Chorus (x2)

Scriptural Reference:

"You will have plenty to eat, until you are full, and you will praise the name of the Lord your God, who has worked wonders for you; never again will my people be shamed.  Then you will know that I am in Israel, that I am the Lord your God, and that there is no other; never again will my people be shamed."  Joel 2:26-27

The Longer I Serve Him

Words and music: William J. Gaither © 1965
Lead: None
Spoken Vocal: C.D. Davis

Lyrics:

Each day is like heaven, my heart overflows
The longer I serve Him, the sweeter He grows

Spoken Vocal:
You know, it's been over 40 years since I became a servant of Jesus and in all those years, He's never once let me down.  Not that I always understood everything that He was doing in my life, but I've served Him long enough to know that even when family members dissapoint you, when friends let you down, or when sickness and death fill you with despair.  If you just reach out, Jesus is right there.  I can look back at those valleys I've walked through and see that, even when I thought I was all alone, that Jesus was with me all the way.  Truly the longer I serve Him, the sweeter He grows.

Chorus:
The longer serve Him, the sweeter He grows
The more that I love Him, more love He bestows
Each day is like heaven, my heart overflows
The longer I serve Him, the sweeter He grows

Since I started for the Kingdom
Since my life He controls
Since I gave my heart to Jesus
The longer I serve Him, the sweeter He grows

Repeat Chorus

Scriptural Reference:

"If they obey and serve him, they will spend the rest of their days in prosperity and their years in contentment."  Job 36:11

God Can Do Anything But Fail

Lyrics:

God can do anything, anything, anything
God can do anything but fail
God can do anything, anything, anything
God can do anything but fail

He's the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end
He's the fairest of ten thousand to my soul
God can do anything, anything, anything
God can do anything but fail

He can save, He can cleanse
He can keep, and He will
God can do anything but fail
He can save, He can cleanse
He can keep, and He will
God can do anything but fail

Repeat Chorus

Lyrics:

A lifetime's not too long to live as friends

Packing up the dreams God planted
In the fertile soil of you
Can't believe the hope he's granted
Means a chapter in your life is through

Bridge:
But we'll keep you close as always
It won't even seem you've gone
'Cause our hearts in big and small ways
Will keep the love that keeps us strong

Chorus 1:
And friends are friends forever
If the Lord's the Lord of them
And a friend will not say never
'Cause the welcome will not end
Though it's hard to let you go
In the Father's hand we know
That a lifetime's not too long
To live as friends

With the faith and love God's given
Springing from the hope we know
We will pray the joy you'll live in
Is the strength that now you show

Repeat Bridge

Repeat Chorus 1

Chorus 2:
And friends are friends forever
If the Lord's the Lord of them
And a friend will not say never
'Cause the welcome will not end
Though it's hard to let you go
In the Father's hand we know
That a lifetime's not too long (a lifetime's not too long, a lifetime's not too long)
To live as friends

Scriptural Reference:

"Jonathan said to David, 'Go in peace, for we have sworn friendship with each other in the name of the Lord, saying, `The Lord is witness between you and me, and between your descendants and my descendants forever.''"  1 Samuel 20:42a

Words and music:

Lyrics:

I have left the land of bondage with its earthly treasures
I've journeyed to a place where there is love on every hand (oh glory)

I'm camping, I'm camping in Canaan's happy land (I'm camping)

Chorus:
Every day I'm camping (camping) in the land of Canaan (Canaan)
And with rapture I survey its wondrous beauties grand (Oh, Glory)
Glory, hallelujah (I have) found the land of promise
(And) I'm camping, I'm camping, in Canaan's happy land

Yes I've reached the land of promise with the saints of glory
My journey ended in a place so lovely and so grand (so grand)
I've been led by Jesus to this blessed land of story
I'm camping, I'm camping, in Canaan's happy land (oh glory)

At Calvary/The Old Rugged Cross Made the Difference

Words to "At Calvary": William R. Newell (1895)
Music to "At Calvary": Daniel B. Towner (1895)
Words and Music to "The Old Rugged Cross Made the Difference": William J. Gaither and Gloria Gaither © 1970 William J. Gaither, Inc.
Lead: Randy Green

Lyrics:

For the cross made the difference for me

Years I spent in vanity and pride
Caring not my Lord was crucified
Knowing not it was for me He died on Calvary

Chorus:
Mercy there was great, and grace was free
Pardon there was multiplied to me
There my burdened soul found liberty at Calvary

By God’s Word at last my sin I learned
Then I trembled at the law I’d spurned
Till my guilty soul imploring turned to Calvary

Repeat Chorus

Twas a light filled with aimless desperation
Without hope walked the shell of a man
Then a hand with a nail print stretched downward
Just one touch then a new life began

And the old rugged cross made the difference
In a life bound for heartache and defeat
I will praise Him forever and ever
For the cross made the difference for me

Scriptural Reference:

"When they came to the place called the Skull, there they crucified him, along with the criminals--one on his right, the other on his left."  Luke 23:33

When All of God's Singers Get Home

Words and music:
Lead: Randy Green

Lyrics:

What a song of delight in a city so bright
We'll be weft beneath heaven's fair dome
How the ransom will raise happy songs in His praise
When all of God's singers get home

Chorus:
When all of God's singers get home (God's singers get home)
When never a sorrow will come (or heartache will come)
They'll be no place like home (like heaven my home)
When all of God's singers get home (God's singers get home)

Having overcome sin, hallelujah amen
We'll heard in that land o'er the foam
Every heart will be light and His face will be bright
When all of God's singers get home

Repeat Chorus (x2)

Scriptural Reference:

"But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home of righteousness."  2 Peter 3:13

How Great Thou Art

Words and music: © Manna Music, Harry Fox Agency
This song also appeared on While the Ages Roll On by Acappella and Acappella Southern by The Acappella Company.
Lead: Lanier Stevens

Lyrics:

Oh, Lord my God, when I in awesome wonder
Consider all the worlds thy hands have made
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder
Thy power throughout the universe displayed

Chorus:
Then sings my soul, my Savior God to thee
How great thou art, how great thou art
Then sings my soul, my Savior God to thee
How great thou art, how great thou art

And when I think, that God, His Son not sparing
Sent him to die, I scarce can take it in
That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing
He bled and died to take away my sin

Repeat Chorus

When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation
And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart
Then I shall bow in humble adoration
And there proclaim, my God how great thou art

Repeat Chorus

Scriptural Reference:

"For the Scripture says to Pharaoh: 'I raised you up for this very purpose, that I might display my power in you and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth'"  Romans 9:17
