All the Way My Savior Leads Me

Words: Fanny Crosby (1875)
Music: Robert Lowry
Lead: None

Lyrics:

All the way my Savior leads me
What have I to ask beside?
Can I doubt His tender mercy
Who through life has been my Guide?
Heav’nly peace, divinest comfort
Here by faith in Him to dwell
For I know, whate’er befall me
Jesus doeth all things well
For I know, whate’er befall me
Jesus doeth all things well

All the way my Savior leads me
Cheers each winding path I tread
Gives me grace for every trial
Feeds me with the living Bread
Though my weary steps may falter
And my soul athirst may be
Gushing from the Rock before me
Lo! A spring of joy I see
Gushing from the Rock before me
Lo! A spring of joy I see

All the way my Savior leads me
O the fullness of His love!
Perfect rest to me is promised
In my Father’s house above
When my spirit, clothed immortal
Wings its flight to realms of day
This my song through endless ages
Jesus led me all the way
This my song through endless ages
Jesus led me all the way

Scriptural Reference:

"I know that his command leads to eternal life. So whatever I say is just what the Father has told me to say."  John 12:50

Let the Lower Lights Be Burning

Words and music: Philip P. Bliss (1871)
Lead:

Lyrics:

Brightly beams our Father’s mercy from His lighthouse evermore
But to us He gives the keeping of the lights along the shore
Let the lower lights be burning! Send a gleam across the wave!
Some poor struggling, sinking sailor you may rescue, you may save

Dark the night of sin has settled, loud the angry billows roar
Eager eyes are watching, longing, for the lights, along the shore
Let the lower lights be burning! Send a gleam across the wave!
Eager eyes are watching, longing, for the lights, along the shore

Trim your feeble lamp, my brother, some poor sailor tempest tossed
Trying now to make the harbor, in the darkness may be lost
Let the lower lights be burning! Send a gleam across the wave!
Trying now to make the harbor, some poor sailor may be lost

Scriptural Reference:

"Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning, like men waiting for their master to return from a wedding banquet, so that when he comes and knocks they can immediately open the door for him."  Luke 12:35-36

I Will Sing of My Redeemer

Words: Philip P. Bliss (1876)
Music: James McGranahan (1877)
Editor's Note: This is believed to be the last song Philip Bliss wrote.  It was found in his belongings after he was killed trying to rescue his wife from a train wreck that he initially survived.  It was also the first song ever recorded on Thomas Edison's phonograph.
Lead:

Lyrics:

I will sing of my Redeemer
And His wondrous love to me
On the cruel cross He suffered
From the curse to set me free

Chorus:
Sing, oh sing, of my Redeemer
With His blood, He purchased me
On the cross, He sealed my pardon
Paid the debt, and made me free

I will sing of my Redeemer
And His heav’nly love to me
He from death to life hath brought me
Son of God with Him to be

Repeat Chorus (x2)

Scriptural Reference:

"My lips will shout for joy when I sing praise to you — I, whom you have redeemed."  Psalm 71:23

Tomorrow Will Be Better

Words and music:
Lead:

Lyrics:

Tomorrow will be better, wait and see
If this day I have walked in truth and right
No day to long, no night to dark for me
For someone goes before and holds the light

Chorus:
I do not fear tomorrow, no thought of grief or sorrow
Can blind me to the way my feet must go
I understand that someone holds my hand
My Lord is taking care of me I know

Tomorrow will be brighter, skies will clear
If I have tried to bring sunshine today
A friendly sun will tell me joy is here
And every little cloud will drift away

Repeat Chorus

Scriptural Reference:

"You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the LORD will give you, O Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the LORD will be with you."  2 Chronicles 20:17

No Tears in Heaven

Words: Fanny Crosby (1868)
Music: W. Howard Doane
This song also appeared on Songs My Mother Used to Sing by The Sounds of Glory.
Lead: Lanier Stevens

Lyrics:

No tears in heaven, no sorrow given
All will be glory in that land
They'll be no sadness, all will be gladness
When we shall join that happy band

Chorus:
(And they'll be) No tears (in heaven fair), no tears, no tears up there
Sorrow and pain will all have flown
(And they'll be) No tears (in heaven fair), no tears, no tears up there
No tears in heaven will be known

Glory is waiting, waiting up yonder
Where we shall spend an endless day
There with our Savior, we'll be forever
Where no more sorrow can dismay

Repeat Chorus

Some morning yonder, we'll cease to ponder
For things this life has brought to view
All will be clearer, saved ones be dearer
In heaven where all will be made new

Repeat Chorus

Be With Me Lord

Words: Thomas O. Chisholm (1934)
Music: Lloyd O. Sanderson (1934)
Lead:

Lyrics:

Be with me, Lord, I cannot live without Thee
I dare not try to take one step alone
I cannot bear the loads of life, unaided
I need Thy strength to lean myself upon

Be with me, Lord, and then if dangers threaten
If storms of trial burst above my head
If lashing seas leap everywhere about me
They cannot harm, or make my heart afraid

Be with me Lord, when loneliness o'er-takes me
When I must weep amid the fires of pain
And when shall come the hour of my departure
For worlds unknown, O Lord, be with me then

Scriptural Reference:

"And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am."  John 14:3

Can He Depend on You?

Words and music: Wilkin "Chief" Bacon (1943)
This song also appeared on Old Time Favorites by The Sounds of Glory.
Lead: Dale Underwood

Lyrics:

Jesus the Savior came down from above
Came to bring mercy and love
"Crucify Him" the mob scornfully cried
So He on Calvary died
While on the cross He prayed, "Father forgive
For they know not what they do"
For us He died that for Him we might live
Can He depend on You?

Chorus:
Can He depend on You (can He depend on You)?
His blessed will to do (His blessed will to do)?
Will you be crowned with the faithful and true?
Can He depend on You?

He is preparing in heaven a home
For all His faithful and own
Are you preparing to stand by His side
Or in that day be denied?
Have you told others the story of love?
Showing them what they should do
These are the precepts that come from above
Can He depend on You?

Repeat Chorus

Scriptural Reference:

"If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone."  Romans 12:18

Where the light in my house I can see (I can see)

And sometimes how lonely the way
But God's pattern unfolds on my life
To assure me of that perfect day

Firm on the Rock of Ages, ever my trust shall be

Music: Edwin O. Excell (1897)

Count your (many) blessings, see what God hath done
Count your (many) blessings, name them one by one
Count your many blessings, see what God hath done

Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear?
Count your many blessings, every doubt will fly
And you will keep singing as the days go by

Do not be discouraged, God is over all
Count your many blessings, angels will attend

Music: Blanche Kerr Brock (1936)
Lead: None

Lyrics:

Beyond the sunset oh blissful morning
When with our Saviour Heav'n is begun
Earth's toiling ending, oh glorious dawning
Beyond the sunset when day is done

Beyond the sunset no clouds will gather
No storms will threaten, no fears annoy
Oh day of gladness, oh day unending
Beyond the sunset, eternal Joy

Beyond the sunset oh glad reunion
With our dear loved ones who've gone before
In that fair homeland we'll know no parting
Beyond the sunset for evermore

He is Near

Words and music:
Lead:

Lyrics:

[Phrases echoed throughout]
Twas Christ my Lord who came to share
My greatest joy, my deepest care
I cast on him my every fear
Content to know that He is near

My Savior's love counts not the cost
He paid the price upon the cross
Redeemed am I, there is no fear
For Christ my Lord is always near

I'm glad each day, though billows roll
There's not to dread, He keeps my soul
Tis sweet to know when life is o'er
I'll live with Him forevermore

Repeat Chorus (x2)

Scriptural Reference:

"Seek the LORD while he may be found; call on him while he is near."  Isaiah 55:6

What a Friend We Have in Jesus

Words: Joseph M. Scriven (1855) - initially published anonymously
Music: Charles C. Converse (1868)
Lead:

Lyrics:

What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear
What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer
Oh what peace we often forfeit, oh what needless pain we bear
All because we do not carry everything to God in prayer

Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged; take it to the Lord in prayer
Can we find a friend so faithful who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness; take it to the Lord in prayer

Are we weak and heavy laden, cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge, take it to the Lord in prayer
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee? Take it to the Lord in prayer
In His arms He’ll take and shield thee; thou wilt find a solace there

Scriptural Reference:

"Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends."  John 15:13

Hilltops of Glory

Words and music:
Lead:

Lyrics:

Onward rejoicing I tread life's way
Higher I'm climbing each passing day
Hilltops of glory now rise in view
Where all shall be made new

Chorus:
Hilltops of glory I now can see
(Now tell me) Oh brother won't you come go with me?
Safe on the mountain I soon shall stand
Hilltops of glory land!

Way down in Egypt, mid burning sand
Moses had started for Canaan's land
Never turn backward, always ascend
On to the journey's end

Repeat Chorus

Footsteps of Jesus before us lead
We tread life's journey, His warnings heed
Evil allurements cannot prevail
I'm on the upward trail

Repeat Chorus (x2)

Amazing Grace

Words and music: John Newton (1779)
This song also appeared on many other albums.
Lead:

Lyrics:

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found
Was blind, but now I see!

Twas grace that taught my heart to fear
And grace my fears relieved!
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed

Through many dangers, toils, and snares
I have already come
Tis grace that brought me safe thus far
And Grace will lead me home

When we've been there ten thousand years
Bright shining as the sun
We've no less days to sing God's praise
Than when we first begun!

Scriptural Reference:

"For this son of mine was dead and is alive again;  he was lost and is found . . ." Luke 15:24
". . . to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves."  Ephesians 1:6
"His face was like the sun shining in all its brilliance."  Revelation 1:16b

Lyrics:

When my way groweth drear
Precious Lord, linger near
When my life is almost gone
Hear my cry, hear my call
Hold my hand lest I fall

And the day is past and gone
At the river I stand
Guide my feet, hold my hand
Take my hand, precious Lord
Lead me home

Precious Lord (precious Lord), take my hand (take my hand)
Lead me on (lead me on), let me stand (let me stand)
I am tired (I am tired), I am weak (I am weak), I am worn

Rock of Ages

Words: A.M. Toplady (1776)
Music: Thomas Hastings (1830)
This song also appeared on Memories by The Sounds of Glory and Hymns for All the World by Acappella.
Lead:

Lyrics:

Rock of ages, cleft for me
Let me hide myself in thee
Let the water and the blood
From thy wounded side which flowed
Be of sin the double cure
Save from wrath and make me pure

Could my tears forever fall?
Could my zeal no longer know?
These for sin cannot atone
Thou must save and thou alone
In my hand no price I bring
Simply to the cross I cling

While I draw this fleeting breath
When my eyes shall close in death
When I rise to worlds unknown
And behold thee on the throne
Rock of ages, cleft for me
Let me hide myself in thee

Scriptural Reference:

"Turn your ear to me, come quickly to my rescue; be my rock of refuge, a strong fortress to save me.  Since you are my rock and my fortress, for the sake of your name lead and guide me."  Psalm 31:2-3

Did You Repent, Fully Repent?

Words and music: Robert Sterling Arnold
Lead:

Lyrics:

Christ the dear Lord, glorious Lord, speaks to us gently
By His great word that is our light each day
Tell us the way, glorious way, we may reach heaven
If we believe, if we repent, if we obey

Chorus:
Did you repeat, fully repent of your past sins, friend
When you confessed His name on high?
Did you believe, fully believe on His great name then
Or was a doubt, treacherous doubt, lingering nigh?
Did you obey all of the way what He commanded
Things in His word we're told to do?
Did you confess, fully confess Jesus the Savior
Did you repent, did you believe all the way through?

Yes, He has said, truly has said, how we should live now
What to partake, what to avoid while here
Do unto those that are about a kindly service
Tell them of Christ, teach them that He always is near

Repeat Chorus

Scriptural Reference:

"Jesus answered, 'Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans because they suffered this way?  I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish.  Or those eighteen who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them — do you think they were more guilty than all the others living in Jerusalem?  I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish.'" Luke 13:2-5

Almost Persuaded

Words and music: Phillip P. Bliss (1871)
Lead:

Lyrics:

Almost persuaded now to believe
Almost persuaded Christ to receive
Seems now some soul to say
“Go, Spirit, go Thy way
Some more convenient day
On Thee I’ll call.”

Almost persuaded, come, come today
Almost persuaded, turn not away
Jesus invites you here
Angels are lingering near
Prayers rise from hearts so dear
O wanderer, come!

Almost persuaded, harvest is past
Almost persuaded, doom comes at last
“Almost” cannot avail
“Almost” is but to fail!
Sad, sad, that bitter wail
“Almost,” but lost!

Scriptural Reference:

"Then Agrippa said to Paul, 'Do you think that in such a short time you can persuade me to be a Christian?'"  Acts 26:28

Mansion Over the Hilltop

Words and music: Ira Stamphill (~1949)
This song also appeared on Songs My Mother Used to Sing by The Sounds of Glory.
Lead:

Lyrics:

I'm satisfied with just a cottage below
A little silver and a little gold
But in that city, where the ransomed will shine
I want a gold one, that silver lined

Chorus:
I've got a mansion just over the hilltop
In that bright land where we'll never grow old
And someday yonder, we will never more wander
But walk the streets that are purest gold

Though often tempted, tormented, and tested
And like the prophet, my pillow a stone
And though I find here no permanent dwelling
I know He'll give me a mansion my own

Repeat Chorus

Don't think me poor or deserted or lonely
I'm not discouraged, I'm heaven bound
I'm just a pilgrim in search of a city
I want a mansion, a robe, and a crown

Repeat Chorus (x2)

Scriptural Reference:

"The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each gate made of a single pearl. The great street of the city was of pure gold, like transparent glass."  Revelation 21:21
