I Feel Good

Words and music to "I Feel Good": Traditional
Words and music to "I Got You I Feel Good": James Brown
Arrangement: Keith Lancaster © 1989 Anthony K. Music (ASCAP)/Fort Knox Music (BMI)
This song also appeared on Sweet Fellowship by Acappella and The Road Home by Voice of Faith.
Producer's Note: "The original arrangement of this song was born in the summer of 1988.  It was designed to introduce the new quartet of Britt, Moyers, Pendergrass, and Dean.  One at a time, each singer would enter singing his part.  The effect lingers, as Acappella often uses it in concert as an opening song."
Lead: Barry Wilson and Steve Maxwell
Sample: Windows Media

Lyrics:

Acappella...

Intro: (Barry starts)
Well, I feel good, good, good
Well, I feel good, oh yes my Lord
Because there's something 'bout the Spirit of
Jesus that makes me feel good, good, good, good

Substitute phrases (for I feel good- last word repeated like good):
I can love (Kevin joins)
I've got joy (Steve joins)
I can sing (Gary joins)
I can serve

Hey, I, I, I feel good yeah
Like I knew that I would
I feel good
Like I knew that I would now
Ya'll don't hear me, So good (so good)
So good (so good)
'Cuz I got you and you and you and you

Do you feel good?  Then clap your hands
Because there's something 'bout the Spirit of
Jesus that makes me feel good, good, good, good.

Repeat Intro with all parts (x2)

Scriptural Reference:

"It is right for me to feel this way about all of you, since I have you in my heart; for whether I am in chains or defending and confirming the gospel, all of you share in God's grace with me."  Phillippians 1:7

Roll Jordon Roll

Words and music: Traditional
Arrangement: Gary Evans, Steve Maxwell, Kevin Schaffer, and Barry Wilson © 2002 Anthony K. Music (ASCAP)
This song also appeared on Stone by Stone by Revival.
Producer's Note: "The Fairfield Four have long been an influence in the Gospel arena, especially among a cappella singers.  Roll Jordon is Acappella's tribute to this ageless group.  If you have good speakers on your stereo system, look out!  The foundation of your house may be in peril after Gary starts singing."
Lead: Steve Maxwell and Gary Evans
Sample: Windows Media

Editor's Note: While the normal spelling is Jordan, a typo was made on the album itself such that the song is listed as above.  Acadisc.com is aware of this typo and we have chosen to reproduce it as is.

Lyrics:

Roll Jordan
Roll, roll Jordan, roll
I want to go to heaven when I die

Now brother, you ought to been there
Yes, my Lord
A sitting in the kingdom
To hear Jordan

Oh you can see it roll, better roll, better roll (roll Jordan, roll Jordan)
Roll Jordan, roll (roll Jordan, roll Jordan)
I want to go to heaven when I die
Roll Jordan, roll

Sweet Fellowship

Words and music: Keith Lancaster © 1988 Anthony K. Music (ASCAP)
The song is dedicated to and written for Scott Homesley, "a good friend and a noble example." Scott sang in the group, "Reunion", which was formed by Keith Lancaster.
This song also appeared on Sweet Fellowship by Acappella and in Spanish as "Dulce Amistad" on Español by Acappella.
Producer's Note: "Over the years, this has become one of Acappella's hallmark songs.  It has endured slight changes with the addition of new singers, but it's still the same old Sweet Fellowship, even with the new jazzy ending."
Lead: Kevin Schaffer
Sample: Windows Media

Lyrics:

Chorus:
Fellowshipping with one another as we're walking in the light (We keep on walking when we're...)
Fellowshipping with one another as we're walking in the light
For there's nothing as sweet as fellowship as we share each other's lives
For there's nothing as sweet as fellowship as we share each other's lives

When we give our hearts to each other you can feel His love inside (We keep on loving when we...)
When we give our hearts to each other you can feel His love inside
For there's nothing as sweet as fellowship as we share each other's hearts
For there's nothing as sweet as fellowship as we share each other's hearts

Fellowshipping with the Father
Fellowshipping with the Lord
Fellowshipping in the Spirit
Fellowshipping with the Family

Repeat Chorus

We're talking 'bout...
Sweet Fellowship
Sweet Fellowship
Sweet Fellowship

Oh, I'm gonna meet my loving Jesus one of these days, Hallelujah!
I'm gonna meet my loving Jesus
I'm gonna view that holy city, (and I will) meet my loving Jesus one of these days, one of these days

You know that I'm gonna sit at the welcome table
Well now, I'm gonna sit at the welcome table one of these days, Hallelujah!
I'm gonna sit at the welcome table
I'm gonna view that holy city, (and I will) meet my loving Jesus, (we're gonna) sit at the welcome table one of these days, one of these days

You know that I'm gonna feast on milk and honey
Well now, I'm gonna feast on milk and honey one of these days, Hallelujah!

"Swing Down Sweet Chariot" Chorus:

Well, you know that I'm gonna view that holy city
I'm gonna view that holy city, (and I will) sing and never get tired, (we're gonna) sing and never get tired, (and we will) sing and never get tired, (we're gonna) sing and never get tired one of these days, one of these days, one of these old days

Everybody Said

Words and music: Keith Lancaster © 1990 Anthony K. Music (ASCAP)
This song also appeared on Rescue by Acappella, The Collection by Acappella, and in Spanish as "Todo Mundo Dijo" on Español by Acappella.
Producer's Note: "This is our nod to all our Caribbean friends.  It was a strange feeling when Acappella performed it in Jamaica and the audience sang it louder than the guys.  As you can hear, the guys have way too much fun performing this.  Each night, they use this song as an opportunity to make Barry (singing lead) crack up.  We never really know what's going to happen."
Lead: Barry Wilson
Sample: Windows Media

Lyrics:

Chorus:
Everybody said that anybody could do
The important things somebody should do
Everybody knows that anybody could do
All the good things that nobody did

Repeat Chorus

Well the preacher came to me and said what I ought to do
If I wanted to make my religion true
He'd do it himself but he really didn't have the time
He said that the duty was mine

Repeat Chorus (x2)

Well the deacon came by and said give me a hand
If you want to be going to the promised land
Here is something that I don't have time to do
So I better give it to you

Repeat Chorus (x2)

Well I'm too busy so I tell everybody
The work's got to get done by somebody
It can be done by anybody
But nobody (nobody), nobody (nobody), nobody did

Repeat Chorus (x2)

All the good things that nobody did (x2)

This Little Light

Words and music: Traditional
Arrangement: Ken McAlpin, Steve Maxwell, and Barry Wilson © 2002 Anthony K. Music (ASCAP)/Clifty Music (BMI)
Producer's Note: "Who hasn't heard of this Bible class standard?  Maybe that's why the audience does so well when they take their turn.  You should've seen everyone lifting their fingers into the air as the guys sang."
This song also appeared as "This Little Light of Mine" on This Little Light by The Sounds of Glory and as part of the "Children's Medley" on Who Am I? by The Sounds of Glory.
Lead:
Sample: Windows Media

Hid it under a bushel (no)
I'm gonna let it shine
Hid it under a bushel (no)
I'm gonna let it shine
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine

This little light of mine

Love is the Power

Words and music: Barry Wilson © 1999 Anthony K. Music (ASCAP)
This song also appeared on All That I Need by Acappella.
Producer's Note: "Doowop is an art unto itself.  Developed in the 50's early 60's, groups like The Five Satins, Frankie Lymon & The Teenagers, and The Platters started a musical phenomenon that hasn't stopped yet."
Lead: Kevin Schaffer
Sample: Windows Media

Lyrics:

I know this is an evil world
That we all live in
Full of pain, strife and struggles
And at times we hurt way, way down deep within
Jesus shed his blood for you and me
On this journey He's by my side
He has set a sinner like me free
Love is the power that makes everything all right

Forget about your heartaches and troubles
Leave them all behind (leave them all behind)
Let your hope, joy and love
This only in Jesus we can find
We are loved so much
What peace living in His light
What a wonderful Savior
Love is the power that makes everything all right

I can't help but love Him
Look at what He has done
On the cross, shed His blood and died
Arose with power to save everyone

I can't help but love Him
He's been so good in my life
What a wonderful Savior
Love is the power that makes everything all right

You know that love, love, love
Makes everything all right, all right
I know that love, love, love
Makes everything all right

I can't help but love Him
He's been so good in my life
What a wonderful Savior
Love is the power that makes everything all right
You know that love, love, love makes everything all right, all right
I know that love, love, love makes everything all right
Don't you know that love is the power, love is the power (love, love, love makes everything all right, all right)
All you got to do is love
I know that love, love, love makes everything all right
Don't you know that love is the power, love is the power (love, love, love makes everything all right, all right)
All you got to do is love
I know that love, love, love makes everything all right
I can't help but love Him

Instrupella

Arrangement: Gary Evans, Steve Maxwell, Kevin Schaffer, and Barry Wilson © 2002 Anthony K. Music (ASCAP)/Clifty Music (BMI)
Producer's Note:  "Is it an a cappella song, an instrumental tune, a combination of the two, or just a lot of fun?  You tell us.  The guys love doing this in concert and we never know how it will come out.  It's different every single night."
Sample: Windows Media

Spoken Vocals:

Kevin Schaffer Intro:
"We believe that the human voice is the most versatile instrument ever created.  So we wanted to do just a little bit of improv for you and kind of give you a taste of some of the different sounds that we can do.  And we thought it would be fun.  I think we'll start with the bass tonight."

Instrupella (Gary Evans, Steve Maxwell, Kevin Schaffer, and Barry Wilson (in order of entrance))

Kevin Schaffer:
"Be gentle.  Be be gentle.  Gentle."

Steve Maxwell:
"Barry... did you take your medicine?"

Kevin Schaffer:
"Steve, it's the hair"
"It's attaching to his brain."

Steve Maxwell:
"Barry if you can continue with this, and not do what you were just doing, we all would appreciate that.  And I'll see to it that we get your medicine to you."

Victory in Jesus

Words and music: E.M. Bartlett (1939) © 1967 Albert E. Brumley & Sons (BMI)
Arrangement: Keith Lancaster
This song also appeared on Hymns for All the Ages by Acappella.
Producer's Note: "It's a simple yet very effective treatment of an old hymn.  The song was later recorded for the album Hymns for All the Ages.  This arrangement showcases Keith Lancaster's ability to arrange songs so that each voice is completely independent yet an essential part of the whole."
Lead: Steve Maxwell
Sample: Windows Media

Lyrics:

I heard an old, old story, how a Savior came from glory
How He gave His life on Calvary to save a wretch like me
I heard about His groaning, of His precious blood's atoning
Then I repented of my sins and won the victory

Chorus:
Oh victory in Jesus (victory in Jesus), my Savior (my Savior) forever (forever)
He sought me and He bought me with His redeeming blood (He bought me with His blood)
(He loved me 'ere I knew Him) He loved me 'ere I knew Him (and all my love is due Him) and all my love is due Him
He plunged me to victory beneath the cleansing flood

I heard about His healing, of His cleansing power revealing
How He made the lame to walk again and He caused the blind to see
(I cried out, "Dear Jesus") And then I cried, "Dear Jesus, (come and heal my broken spirit) come and heal my broken spirit"
I then obeyed His blest command and gained the victory

Repeat Chorus

The flood...

I heard about a mansion He has built for me in glory
And I heard about the street of gold beyond the crystal sea (beyond the crystal sea)
(The angels singing) About the angels singing (the old redemption story) and the old redemption story
Oh and some sweet day I'll sing up there the song of victory

Repeat Chorus (x2)

(Don't you know) He plunged me to victory beneath the cleansing flood
(I said) He plunged me to victory beneath the cleansing flood

I've got a victory in Jesus
You've got a victory in Jesus

Scriptural Reference:

"Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood."  Acts 20:28

Sample: Windows Media

Lyrics:

Kevin Schaffer Spoken Intro:
"Ok we need help on this next song, we're going to teach it to you and you are going to sing with us.  Yeah.  And are you ready?  And Steve's gonna teach you the words, it's real simple and it goes something like this."

God is standing by
So hush, don't you worry
Don't cry

Kevin Schaffer Spoken Vocal:
"Those are all the words you need... here's the second part of the melody."

God is standing by
So hush, don't you worry
Don't cry

Kevin Schaffer Spoken Vocal:
"Ok this will be a rehersal this time... you sing along."

God is standing by
So hush, don't you worry
Don't cry

Kevin Schaffer Spoken Vocal:
"Sing out this time... c'mon"

God is standing by
So hush, don't you worry
Don't cry

Kevin Schaffer Spoken Vocal:
"Now remember that because we'll be back to it in just a moment"

And when troubles come
Don't cry, no don't cry
When all your dreams
And would be fortunes pass you by
And when there is heartache
So many trials and life's unclear
Just look up toward heaven
There's a God and He's standing near

Chorus:
God is standing by
So hush (so hush), don't you worry (don't you worry)
Don't cry
God is standing by
So hush (so hush), don't you worry (don't you worry)
Don't cry

And when there is parting
All your friends and loved ones leave you
And you hurt so bad
You feel you just don't know what to do
And if you're wondering if there's anybody who
Really cares
Let me assure you, that there's a God
and He'll be right there

So hush (so hush), don't you worry (don't you worry)
Don't cry
So hush (so hush), don't you worry (don't you worry)
Don't cry

Peace Be Still

Words and music: Gloria Gaither, William J. Gaither, and J.D. Miller © Gather Music Company and Shepherd's Fold Music with the added chorus from Feel The Nails by Ray Boltz and Steve Millikan © Diadem Sky Music and Sun Worshippers Music.
Arrangement: Keith Lancaster
This song also appeared on Platinum by Acappella.
Producer's Note: "This song is actually a combination of two different songs.  Peace Be Still was written by friends of our ministry, Bill & Gloria Gaither.  When the quartet of Adams, Dean, Moyers, and Pendergrass arranged it in 1991, they felt it needed a more triumphant, yet peaceful ending.  Enter the "Holy" from Ray Boltz's Feel the Nails.  Acappella still regularly closes with this song because ti brings everything into focus."
Lead:  None
Sample: Windows Media

Lyrics:

He says peace, peace be still
Lifts his hands, peace be still

Like a child the winds obey him
When he says peace be still

He says peace, peace be still
Lifts his hands, peace be still

Like a child my heart obeys him
When he says peace be still
Hear his voice peace be still

Holy holy
Holy is the Lamb
Holy holy
Holy is the Lamb

Jesus Knows

Words and music: Ken McAlpin and Gary Moyers © 1996 Anthony K. Music (ASCAP)
This song also appeared on All That I Need by Acappella.
This song was named runner-up for Best Religious Song of 2002 by the Contemporary Acappella Society of America.
Producer's Note: "Did you notice the crowd snapping their fingers?  They did pretty well, considering it took the lead singer Barry Wilson weeks to figure out how to snap along with the song himself.  It didn't stop his singing though.  When it comes to Barry, the finger bone is not connected to the vocal bone."
Lead: Barry Wilson
Sample: Windows Media

Lyrics:

Chorus:
I know that Jesus knows what I'm going through
Jesus knows what I need to do
My Jesus is there when I ask Him to
Jesus will carry me through

Repeat Chorus (x2)

Listen now...
When I was a child I was afraid of the dark
Today I'm scared of things I can see
But if I just keep walking on down that road
I know that Jesus walks in front of me

Repeat Chorus

When I get discouraged and I lose my way
And I'm blinded by the wrong that I do well
If I trust in Jesus He will show me the way
He will always carry me through

Repeat Chorus (x2)

Well my Jesus He cares (Jesus, He cares for you)
I know that He cares for you (Jesus, He cares for you)
I said my Jesus cares for you (Jesus, He cares for you)
Well I know that sometimes you might feel a little burden (Jesus, He cares for you- my Jesus, He cares for you)
At times you may need a friend (Jesus, He cares for you- Jesus, He cares for you)
Well my Jesus is the only one in whom you can depend (my Jesus, He cares for you- my Jesus, He cares for you)
I know my Jesus cares for you (my my Jesus, He cares for you- my my Jesus, He cares for you)
One more time (my my Jesus, He cares for you- Jesus, He cares for you)

(Well, I know that) Jesus will carry me through
(I'm sure that) Jesus will carry me through
(I'm glad that) Jesus will carry me through

"Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess.  For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are--yet was without sin.  Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need."  Hebrews 5:14-16

Shut De Do

Words and music: Randy Stonehill (1970's)
This song also appeared on Travelin' Shoes by Acappella.
Producer's Note: "This song has been a concert favorite for years.  As usual, Kevin Schaffer takes a few liberties with his part.  We just can't take him anywhere!"
Lead: Steve Maxwell
Sample: Windows Media

Lyrics:

Chorus:
Shut de do, keep out de devil
Shut de do, keep de devil in the night.
Shut de do, keep out de devil
Light de candle, everything is alright
Light de candle, everything is alright

Oh when I was a baby child (Shut de do, keep out de devil)
Good and bad were just a game (Shut de do, keep de devil in the night)
Many years and many trials (Shut de do, keep out de devil)
They proved to me they’re not the same (Shut de do, keep de devil in the night)

You better listen to me...
Repeat Chorus

Oh, Satan is an evil charmer (Shut de do, keep out de devil)
He’s hungry for a soul to hurt (Shut de do, keep de devil in the night)
And without your holy armor (Shut de do, keep out de devil)
He will eat you for dessert (Shut de do, keep de devil in the night)

Repeat Chorus

Well heh, hey, hey, hey, shut de do
Hey, hey, hey, shut de do
Hey, hey, you better shut de do
Say a prayer, he won’t be here back no more.

My mama used to sing this song (Shut de do, keep out de devil)
Papa used to sing it too (Shut de do, keep de devil in the night)
Jesus came and called them home (Shut de do, keep out de devil)
So I sing this song for you (Shut de do, keep de devil in the night)

Repeat Chorus

Everybody say... Light de candle, everything is alright
One more time, I said... Light de candle, everything is alright

Producer's Note: "This is easily the most requested song that Acappella sings.  Can you see why?  This version has been sung just about everywhere.  Acappella sang it to the rescue workers at the Oklahoma City Federal Building bomb site.  They've sung it at funerals where the attendees got up and danced for joy.  They sang it in China where the people had no real concept of a joyous grace.  If the Lord is willing, Acappella will continue to sing about His amazing grace for years to come.  Anywhere He wants them to."
Lead: Gary Evans, Kevin Schaffer, Steve Maxwell, and Barry Wilson
Sample: Windows Media

Lyrics:

Amazing grace, how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost, but now I'm found
Was blind but now I see

Twas grace that taught my heart to fear
And it was grace my fears relieved
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believe

When we've been there ten thousand years
Bright shining as the sun
We've no less days to sing God's praise
Than when we first begun

Well ama- (ama-) 'zing grace ('zing grace), how sweet (how sweet) the sound (the sound)
That saved (that saved) a wretch (a wretch) like me (a wretch like me)
I once (I once) was lost (was lost), but now (but now) I am found (I'm found)
Was blind (was blind) but now (but now) I can see (but now I see)

Twas grace that taught my heart to fear
And grace my fears relieved
How precious did that grace appear
That very hour, that very hour I believed

When we've (when we've) been there (been there) ten thou- (ten thou-) 'sand years ('sand years)
Bright shi- (bright shi-) 'ning as ('ning as) the sun (bright as the sun)

Well ama- (ama-) 'zing grace ('zing grace), how sweet (how sweet) the sound (the sound)

I once (I once) was lost (was lost), but now-now-now-now-now-now-now-now (but now) I am found (I'm found)
Was blind (was blind) but now (but now) I can see (but now I see)
