This song won the 1994 CARA for "Best Signed Professional Song."
Producer's Note from The Collection: "The laughing you hear in the beginning is Gary Moyers, amused at some studio bloopers.  You can tell it's a genuine laugh.  We thought it would be fun to keep it in the mix.  Wayburn Dean has to be one of the greatest voices I have ever heard in my life.  His work on this song, on the song "Rescue," as well as many others is an outstanding expression of emotion and style."
Lead: Wayburn Dean
Sample: Windows Media

Lyrics:

All You ever said before no matter what it was
It was the truth - ever lovin' truth
Every time You spoke a word the voice of God was
Being heard - I know it was truth

It was the truth it was nothing but the truth
Only truth comes from You
It was the truth it was nothing but the truth
And it's all You can do

All You've ever done before no matter what You've chosen
It was right - You are always right
Every time You willed a way and
Everything You've had to say - I know it was right

It was the truth it was nothing but the truth
Only truth comes from You
It was the truth it was nothing but the truth
And it's all You can do

Chorus:
Only truth, loving truth
Only truth, loving truth

(You know it was your Word
And it was the truth
every lovin' truth
You are always right, all you do is real
Truth comes from you, and it's only you)

Turning to the pages of the Bible of the ages
It was real - All You do is real
Everything You've written down we all will count
On been sound - we know it was real

It was Your word
It was nothing but Your word
That inspired those men
It was Your word
It was nothing but Your word
That will teach us again

(verse one)

Repeat Chorus

Scriptural Reference:

Jesus uses the phrase "I tell you the truth" over 75 times in the New Testament.
"For the law was given through Moses, grace and truth came through Jesus Christ." John 1:17

Set Me Free

Words and music: Keith Lancaster and George Pendergrass © 1993 Anthony K. Music (ASCAP)
Lead: George Pendergrass
Background Vocals: Mary Tiller, Dadra Crawford, Steve Crawford, and Denise Walls
Sample: Windows Media

Lyrics:

I was alone and imprisoned within my cell
Because of how I had lived, I had approached the gates of hell.
Then your light comes shining through
There's nothing better you could ever do
Release me by the power in your hand

Chorus:
Set Me Free (x2)
Only you can let it be
Set Me Free (x2)

Standing speechless, I was trying hard to figure out
How your love had saved me and taken away my doubt
Then I fall down on my knees
All I can tell you is I want to please
My Lord, My God, My Savior shine on Me

Repeat Chorus

Set me free from my desires
Set me free from my foolish pride
Set me free from all my selfish thoughts and ways

By the power that's within you
Only you can loose the chains
And deliver me to more fulfilling days

Repeat Chorus twice

Set me free (x4)

Free from the shackles of the people that tie me
All the crippling traditions of the past that enslave and then blind me
Lord, set me free to really know my brother
Set us free to love and honor one another
I said I wanna be free enough to openly express my feelings
Gotta be free if we wanna be receiving any healing
Free as a bird to fly away
Free as the sun to greet a brand new day

Free as the stars up in the sky
Free as the future in a baby's eye
Free to see as far as you can see
Free to be as much as you can be

Scriptural Reference:

"In my anguish I cried out to the Lord, and he answered by setting me free."  Psalm 118:5
"I run in the path of your commands, for you have set my heart free." Psalm 119:32
"Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." John 8:32
"So if the son sets you free, you will be free indeed." John 8:36

This song also appeared on Hear It In Our Voice by The Acappella Company and Acappella Word of God Longplay by The Acappella Company.  A portion of this song appeared in Sony Camcorder commercials.
Lead: George Pendergrass
Sample: Windows Media

Lyrics:

hey are more precious than gold
Sweeter than the honey
They are more precious than gold
And the honey comb

The laws of the Lord are perfect
Reviving the soul, reviving the soul
Reviving the soul

They are more precious than gold
Sweeter than the honey
They are more precious than gold
And the honey comb

They make wise the simple
They give joy to the heart
Light to the eyes
Enduring forever
Righteous altogether
They bring great reward

The laws of the Lord are perfect
Reviving the soul, reviving the soul
Reviving the soul

May the words of my mouth
And the meditation of my heart
Be pleasing in your sight
O Lord my rock
My rock and my redeemer
O Lord, my rock and my redeemer

The laws of the Lord are perfect
Reviving the soul, reviving the soul
Reviving the soul

They are more precious than gold
Sweeter than the honey
They are more precious than gold
And the honey comb

Scriptural Reference:

"The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul... They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the honey comb... May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer." Psalm 19:7,10,14

Not My Will But Thine

Words and music: Keith Lancaster © 1978 Anthony K. Music (ASCAP)
This song also appeared on Born Again by New Life (TN), Heaven Will Be My Home by Keith Lancaster and The Collection by Acappella.
Producer's Note from The Collection:  "I wrote this song over 20 years ago.  In borrowing from a choral, spiritual style, I tried to create the scene at the cross; the defining moment in history.  God became something he was not (sin), so we could become something we are not (righteous).  George Pendergrass masterfully expresses a taste of the emotion surrounding the crucifixion."
Lead: George Pendergrass
Sample: Windows Media

Lyrics:

Jesus prayed in the garden and poured out His heart for me
There has been no love shown my mortal as in dark Gethsemane

He could have chosen not to suffer treatment of the cruelest kind
But the lips of my pure savior uttered not my will but thine.

Part Ia-

Jesus prayed in the Garden, he prayed oh (repeated)

Part Ib-

Let me tell you what he went through
You know he really didn't have to
He could have easily just walked away
Then he said "not my will but thine"

And they took them and they beat him and they mocked him and teased him
The people kept a cryin "We gotta crucify Him"
"Crucify Him! Crucify Him!"
Yet he said "not my will but thine"

Part IIa-

Jesus died on Calvary, he died oh (repeated)

Part IIb-

Well they hung him there in anger searchin' for some relief
They nailed him there in public right between the two thiefs
He tasted human torture of the cruelest kind
But yet he said "not my will but thine"

Some were laughin', some were cryin' some were happy at his dyin'
I don't see, I can't see how could this ever be?
Poor Jesus as he hung on the tree he said
"Not my will but thine"

Not my will but thine

Scriptural Reference:

"Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, "My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me.  Yet not as I will, but as you will."  Matthew 26:39

My Lord And My God

Words and music: Keith Lancaster © 1993 Anthony K. Music (ASCAP)
This song also appeared on The Collection by Acappella and in Spanish as "Mi Señor y Mi Dios" on Español by Acappella.
Producer's Note from The Collection: "Gary Moyers is a remarkable man.  His voice has been heard with Acappella longer than any other member.  He is talented, intelligent, witty and a model to all who want to be a dependable friend, devoted spouse, and loving parent.  In addition to being president of Acappella Ministries, he and his family travel full time with the group.  He and Kevin share the lead in concert on this song.  It is based on that utterance of 'Doubting' Thomas upon seeing his resurrected savior, 'My Lord and My God!'"
Lead: Gary Moyers
Sample: Windows Media

Lyrics:

The Alpha and Omega
The Beginning and End
The God of All Creation
And My Personal Friend

O Lord, You've been good to me
You came to rescue and to set me free
O God, What can I say?
Your loving kindness blesses every day.

My Lord and My God
My Lord and My God

O Father, how did it feel
To give your only Son my sin to repeal?
O Jesus, why did you take it?
Now through your suffering I know I can make it

My Lord and My God
My Lord and My God

The Alpha and Omega
The Beginning and End
The God of All Creation
And My Personal Friend

O Spirit, give me Your leading
Give me the power and direction I'm needing
O Lord, I'm not deserving
But with my every breath I want to be serving

My Lord and My God
My Lord and My God

Scriptural Reference:

"Thomas said to him, 'My Lord and My God!'"  John 20:28
"I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End."  Revelation 22:13

Lead Me To Rest

Words and music: Keith Lancaster © 1993 Anthony K. Music (ASCAP)
Arrangment: Wayburn Dean © 1993 Anthony K. Music (ASCAP)
This song also appeared as part of "The Medley" on The Collection by Acappella.
Lead: Wayburn Dean
Sample: Windows Media

Lyrics:

I was hurting all alone
And I was searching for a comfort I could find on my own
With no direction, feeling down
My life was heading for disaster 'til you turned me around
Nothing ever had been able to ease me
When trying to please me
It only pleased me less
But when I learned about the way that you loved me
Had to put your honor above me
And you gave me rest

Chorus:
Lead me to rest, sweet Lord, lead me to rest
From my journey here lead me to rest
The relief I've found from the burdens that have weighed me down
Lead me to rest, lead me to rest

What a comfort, what a deal
As I consider what you offered me how can it be real?
What should I offer in return?
When the value of your blessings no one ever could earn
Then you tell me that I'm really forgiven
Got a reason for livin'
And you made it so clear
I'm supported when the devil would charm me
Protected when the evil would harm me
Tell me how can I fear?

Bridge:

In the world my life was slowly sinking
Not attaining true peace at all
Never listening to what you had to say
Now it's fortunate you've changed my thinking
After answering your loving call
You give me rest that nobody can take away

Repeat Chorus

Lead me to rest, lead me to rest
Lead me to rest, lead me to rest

O Lord won't you lead me, lead me to rest (repeat several times)

Scriptural Reference:

"But now the Lord my God has given me rest on every side, and there is no adversary or disaster."  1 Kings 5:4

Nobody But Jesus

Words and music: Keith Lancaster © 1993 Anthony K. Music (ASCAP)
Lead: George Pendergrass
Sample: Windows Media

Lyrics:

Who's the one who is here today
Leadin' everybody to the heavenly way?

I say no, nobody
Nobody, nobody
Nobody, nobody, no, no

Now who's the one really knows my mind?
Knows the many complicated problems I find?

I say no, nobody
Nobody, nobody
Nobody, nobody, no, no

I say no, nobody,
Nobody, nobody
Nobody, nobody,
No one but

Chorus:
Jesus
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus
(nobody but) Jesus

Who's the one is who is on the throne
Every living creature will His glory be shown?

I say no, nobody
Nobody, nobody
Nobody, nobody, no, no

I say no, nobody
Nobody, nobody
Nobody, nobody
No one but

Repeat Chorus

No, no, no, no nobody
No, no, no, nobody like Him
No, no, no, no nobody
No, no, no, no nobody
No, no, no, no nobody
No, no, no, nobody like Him
No one like Jesus

Who's the one who has walked the earth
Showing everybody what the spirit is worth?

I say no, nobody
Nobody, nobody
Nobody, nobody, no, no
I say no, nobody
Nobody, nobody
Nobody, nobody, no, no

Though He lived in the distant past
Everything He taught us through the Bible will last

I say no, nobody
Nobody, nobody
Nobody, nobody
No one but

Repeat Chorus

Bridge:

Who's the one who's here today
Leadin' everybody to the heavenly way?

I say no, nobody
Nobody, nobody
Nobody, nobody, no, no
No one, none else, nobody
No, no, no, no
Jesus

Special Kind of Love

Words and music: Keith Lancaster © 1993 Anthony K. Music (ASCAP)
This song also appeared on Acappella Favorites by The Acappella Company.
Lead: Gary Moyers
Sample: Windows Media

Lyrics:

When I tell you of true will you listen?
If I sing of wondrous love will you heart?
Will you open up your heart
Be responsive from the start
to the love we'd love to share?
It's very near

Chorus:
Love, there's a special kind of love
That defines the human soul
Everyone should know
This special kind of love
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Love, there's a special kind of love
That will really see the best survive
Bringing a feeling so alive
This special kind of love
This special kind of love

For this special kind of love cannot be hidden
It's a power that cannot be overcome
Changing everything, it knows no other equal
And was shown to us through Jesus Christ His Son
(God's own Son)

Repeat Chorus

And this special kind of love will last forever
It will bring the promised land within our view
Meeting all our hearts' desires and true fulfillings
With transforming power to heal and make us new

Repeat Chorus

Special kind of love
This special kind of love
Special kind of love
This special kind of love

Scriptural Reference:

"Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God.  Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.  Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.  This is how God showed his love among us:  He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him. . . In this way, love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment, because in this world we are like him.  There is no fear in love.  But perfect love drives out fear. . ."  1 John 4:7-9,17-18

Long Way To Go

Words and music: Gary Moyers, Duane Adams, and Wayburn Dean © 1993 Anthony K. Music (ASCAP)/Clifty Music (BMI)
Lead: Gary Moyers
Sample: Windows Media

Lyrics:

I'm seeing lots of people looking sure of themselves
Never seem to say much
Feeling mighty cozy with their righteousness
But their Bible's still gathering dust
They've got a long way to go, such a long way to go
They've got a long way to go, such a long way to go

I see a lot of people working over time
Defining what grace can afford
Working at a standard they could never attain
Trying to gain their reward
They've got a long way to go, such a long way to go
Earning grace through manufactured rules
They've got a long way to go, such a long way to go

Chorus:
Till we understand the message of Christ
Till we learn to let Him work in our lives
We've got a long way to go, such a long way to go
Till we understand what love is about
Till we follow Him with never a doubt
We've got a long way to go, such a long way to go

I heard about a baby down in Galilee
Heard he had his own star
Everybody said that he was sure to succeed
But nobody knew how far
He had a long way to go, such a long way to go
Who'd of thought it'd start with swaddling clothes
He had a long way to go, such a long way to go

I heard about the garden of Gethsemane
Time to pull out and pray
They say that he was crying out in agony
"Father please take this cup away"
He had a long way to go, such a long way to go
Pure love hanging on a tree
He had a long way to go, such a long way to go

Repeat Chorus

Dreaming of the day when He will come again
See Him eye to eye
Looking for the dawning of eternity
Forever and ever with Jesus Christ
We'll have a long way to go, such a long way to go
We'll have a long way to go, such a long way to go

Scriptural Reference:

"Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, "My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me.  Yet not as I will, but as you will."  Matthew 26:39

Lyrics:

Chorus:
God is standing by
So hush, don't you worry
Don't cry
God is standing by
So hush, don't you worry
Don't cry

Repeat Chorus

And when troubles come
Don't cry, no don't cry
When all your dreams
And would be fortunes pass you by
And when there is heartache
So many trials and life's unclear
Just look up toward heaven
There's a God and He's standing near

Repeat Chorus

And when there is parting
All your friends and loved ones leave you
And you hurt so bad
You feel you just don't know what to do
And if you're wondering if there's anybody who
Really cares
Let me assure you, that there's a God
and He'll be right there

Repeat Chorus (x2)

So hush, don't you worry
Don't cry
Hush

Scriptural Reference:

"Therefore, I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear.  Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?"  Matthew 6:25

Stand on the Rock

Words and music: Keith Lancaster © 1993 Anthony K. Music (ASCAP)
Duane Adams also sang 1st Tenor on this song.
This song also appeared on Acappella Favorites by The Acappella Company.
Lead: Duane Adams
Sample: Windows Media

Lyrics:

Chorus:
Stand on the rock
Movin' a mountain
With faith even small as a seed
And there on the rock
His love like a fountain
Giving me all that I ever will need

Pain - I have experienced pain
Too many hurts in my life
Were bringing terrible strife
I have experienced pain
But Jesus is my refuge
And I know He's paid His dues
So now I have a savior who has
Walked within my shoes (he has walked within my shoes)

Repeat Chorus

Love - Have you experienced love?
Too many people will hate
Reaping a terrible fate
They won't experience love
But Jesus is my anchor
He's defining what is love
I'm happy that He's teaching me and
taking me above

Repeat Chorus

When you step out on the sinking sand
Putting your faith in mortal man
Life has no direction, life will see no gain
Lacking love and helpless on your
own you will remain

But when you trust in Jesus Christ
Who is the Author of true life
He's the door to go through, all you do is knock
He'll be there to guide you when
You're standing on the rock

Repeat Chorus (x2)

Scriptural Reference:

"Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord, is the Rock eternal."  Isaiah 26:4
"He replied, "Because you have so little faith.  I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move.  Nothing will be impossible for you."  Matthew 17:20
